Timothy M. Brown is Managing Director of Tech AI at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he leads strategy, partnerships, and program development across applied research, education, and industry engagement. His work focuses on accelerating the translation of artificial intelligence research into practical solutions for industry, government, and society. He connects faculty, researchers, engineers, students, and external partners to develop interdisciplinary initiatives that advance AI applications, support technology deployment, and address organizational and workforce needs. In this role, he also helps strengthen Georgia Tech’s external AI engagement, develops relationships with industry and government, and supports programs that move promising ideas from proof of concept toward implementation.
Brown brings more than four decades of experience in university research-center leadership, professional education, engineering, management, supply chain strategy, and industry consulting. Before leading Tech AI, he served as Georgia Tech’s Academic Program Director for AI and, for nearly ten years, as Managing Director of the Supply Chain and Logistics Institute. His Georgia Tech work has included interdisciplinary program development, industry-sponsored research, workforce-development initiatives, executive and professional education, and partnerships spanning campus units, corporations, government agencies, and international organizations. His recent work includes leading development of Panama’s National AI Strategy, helping establish Georgia Tech’s AI Career Fair and AI Symposium, supporting major AI-related sponsored programs, and contributing to Georgia Tech’s institutional AI strategy and external engagement.
Brown’s interests include applied artificial intelligence, AI-enabled organizational and workforce transformation, professional and executive education, research translation, industry-university collaboration, innovation ecosystems, and AI applications in operations, manufacturing, and supply chains. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Management Science from Georgia Tech, with concentrations in industrial engineering and operations research, and an MBA with a finance concentration from Georgia State University.
